featuring Reich's "Music for 18"

Friday, January 23, 2009 - 7:30
Kaul Auditorium, Reed College

Minimalism is dead…..long live minimalism! Often misunderstood, yet undeniably influential, this distinctly American style has produced works of astonishing beauty and transformative power. Our program features several such works, including Steve Reich's masterpiece, Music for 18 Musicians. The program also features Piece in the shape of a square by Philip Glass, and acclaimed filmmaker Hal Hartley's The new math(s), with a musical score by Louis Andriessen.
