Ilana McNamara

Ilana McNamara (she/they) is a multi-disciplinary artist, performer, collaborator, and improviser. After graduating from Oberlin College and Conservatory with degrees in Viola Performance and Mathematics, Ilana lived in Sri Lanka, where they performed regularly with the Chamber Music Society of Colombo, as well as forming the improvisational duo Gaweshana. Now based in Portland, Ilana loves experimenting with the mediums of vocal and instrumental music at the same time and in the same body, and is an active evangelizer of the technique of singing viola.
